Amiodarone Competency~for RN's

You will find in your mailboxes a competency for Amiodarone. Each RN needs to complete the quiz and return it to Vilma's mailbox outside the office and while you are there sign the Attendance sheet posted there also.

Arixtra-the new Prophylaxis for DVT/PE

Heparinoids: Atrixia
Heparinoids are possibly the newest class of anticoagulants. Currently, there is only one drug in this class, Atrixia. Atrixia is a subcutaneous injection that is give once a day. It is usually used short term (only 5-9 days). It is the only anticoagulant that inhibits only factor Xa and does not affect thrombin.
Atrixia is typically taken once daily
Atrixia is new and therefore may be expensive
